About Tarachakra and How We Calculate

What Tarachakra is
Tarachakra (tarachakra.online) is a free Indian astrology site in English, Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, Bengali, Kannada and Telugu: marriage matching for each tradition (Guna Milan out of 36, 10 Porutham, Pontana, Hondanike, Jotok Bichar), birth charts, daily and yearly rashifal, panchang, festival dates and muhurat dates.
Where the planets come from
Planet positions come from NASA JPL’s DE421 ephemeris, the data astronomers use, computed with the Lahiri (Chitrapaksha) ayanamsa, adopted by India’s Calendar Reform Committee and widely used by Indian almanacs. Birth times are converted to universal time with the historical time zone of the birth place.
Checked against the sites families use
Matching scores must agree with AstroSage, the calculator most families compare against: the Guna Milan and Porutham tables were read cell by cell from its public calculators, and every release is tested against 127 Guna Milan and 212 Porutham results saved from it. Festival dates and wedding and griha pravesh muhurat dates are tested against Drik Panchang’s published lists for New Delhi, 2025 to 2027; Karwa Chauth moonrise and Diwali Lakshmi Puja times against Drik for several cities; daily panchang times were spot-checked against Drik to the minute. Where a tradition differs between communities, the page says which rule it follows.
No invented predictions
Daily and yearly horoscopes are worked out from the real sky by the classical transit (gochara) rules from your Moon sign: the same sky always gives the same words. Nothing is written by hand for a day or a sign, and nothing is generated at random.
What we do not claim
Astrology is a cultural tradition, not a science, and a match score is one input for a family alongside its own judgement. We do not predict the future of any relationship and we do not give medical, legal or financial advice.
Your details
We do not keep a database of the birth details you enter: they travel inside the link to your result. See the Privacy Policy for the full details.
