What Kaal Sarp is

Rahu and Ketu, the Moon’s nodes, always sit opposite each other. When the Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus and Saturn all fall within the half of the chart on one side of them, the chart is said to have Kaal Sarp dosh (or yoga).

Its weight is debated: classical texts say little about it, and many astrologers treat it as a minor factor. We show whether it is present by the strict rule, without exaggerating what it means.

Questions families ask

How common is Kaal Sarp dosh?

Fairly uncommon: it needs all seven planets on one side of the nodes, which happens in a minority of charts.
