What Sade Sati is
Saturn spends about two and a half years in each sign. Sade Sati begins when it enters the sign before your Moon sign, peaks while it crosses your Moon sign, and ends when it leaves the sign after it: about seven and a half years in all, coming round roughly every 30 years.
Tradition sees it as a time of hard work, responsibility and maturing rather than misfortune. Its three phases (rising, peak and setting) feel different, and they are dated in the full report.
How we calculate it
We use your Vedic Moon sign and the exact moments Saturn changes sidereal sign, worked out from NASA JPL’s ephemeris. When Saturn briefly moves back a sign, Sade Sati is counted from its first entry to its final exit.
